PT Hua Yii Indonesia is currently work together with Powertrain on development SMETA in the Organization. PT Hua Yii is Non Woven fabric manufacturer in KIIC Karawang Indonesia. It is main supplier to ITOCU, thus it is supplied to Unicharm.

PT Hua Yii is commit to implementing SMETA in their organization to commit on human right implementation and also preventing their health , safety and environment while it is implementing ethical business conduct

 

What Is SMETA

SMETA is an audit methodology, providing a compilation of best practice ethical audit techniques. It is designed to help auditors conduct high quality audits that encompass all aspects of responsible business practice, covering Sedex’s four pillars of Labour, Health and Safety, Environment and Business Ethics.

SMETA is designed for suppliers to share one audit with multiple customers, meeting multiple customer requirements and reducing duplication in ethical auditing. SMETA has three elements:

A common Best Practice Guidance on conducting ethical trade audits

A common Audit Report format

A common Corrective Action Plan format

0.A. Universal Rights covering UNGP

Development of policy, endrosment at high level,.Design person for human righ, potential impact of human right and transparent system

0.B Management Systems & Code Implementation

Development  Supplier commitment on implementing this code, appoint senior member (management representative) , communicate this code to employee, operating legally , implement this code through supply chain

1.    Freely chosen employment

Developmeent system for Employment which contains No force bonded, no lodge deposit , free to leave after reasonable notive . Contract and termination system development , Personel Files Management , Wage system

2.    Freedom of Association

Development system or documentation related to freedom of association, worker have the right to join or form trade union, Employee adopt open attitude toward the activities. No discrimination to worker representative

3.    Health and safety

Development safety and health system which include

·       Safe and hygienic working environment,

·       Health and safety training for worker,

·       Clean toilet facilities and food storage,

·       Clean and safet accomodation.

·       Refers to ILO convention 155.

·       OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 implementation is strongly recommend .

·       Accident figure, hazard identification , young worker , worker facility,

·       Fire risk and emergency , fire fighting equipement, building licenses,

·       valid certificat per local regulation ,

·       machine inspection report , drill ,

·       water use and disposal, waste disposal , hazardous waste,

·       local inspection  certificate for hazardous substance, waste water, gas emission ,

·       safety training record

·       First aid policy

·       Electrical Safety

·       Water Test

·       Hygiene Inspection Certificate for canteen

·       Pest Control

·       PPE distribution

·       Site Insurance for worker

4.    Child Labour and Young Worker

Development system or documentation for following requirment : no child labour, follow ILO convention C138 and C182. Evaluate the employee record, wage check, overtime check,  minimum mandatory education, birth certificate.

5.    Wage and Benefit

Development system or documentation for wage follow national standard industry . Clear contract and benefit, no deduction for diciplinary purpose. Overtime payment , paylist and personal file

6.    Working Hour

Development system or documentation for following requirement : working hour follow national law, collective agreement. Overtime shall be voluntary , Not exceed 60 hour with meet some criteria. 1 day off per 7 days working ,

7.    Discrimination

Development system or documentation which contains : no discrimination in hiring , compensation , access to training, promotion , caste, national origin, religion , age, gender, marital status , sexual orientation , union memberships or political affiliation

8.    Regular Employment

Development system or documentation which related to clear employment contract. Similarity benefit for all scheme of work such as labour only contracting, sub contracting, home working, apprenticeship.

9.    Subcontracting and Home Working

Development system for non subcontracting jobs  unless agreed by main clients. System and process should be in place to manage sub contracting , home working and external processing

10.                       Harsh or Inhumane Treatment

Development system for non physical abuse or disciplin. The threat of physical abuse, sexual or other harrashment and verbal abuse or other form of intimiation shall be prohibited.  Access to confidential grievance mechanism

Development system for compliance requirement , no bribery m corruption , or any type of fraudulent

Develoopment business as minimum meet the requirement related to bribery, corruption or any type of fraudulent business practice

Development system to meet all legal requirement

Development system to have access to a transparant system , having business ethics policy , covering bribery, corruption or any other type of fraudulent , including provide 3rd party audit

Ensuring that the company the staff whose job roles carry a higher level of risk in the are of business ethic practice are trained
